Hi Everyone,

The salary structure are so confusing, whatever happened to pay a person what their market rate is rather than all these *allowances*? What if one doesnt want any allowance but wants the net market rate for the kind of job they do?

Enough with the rant. A very simple question.

I make around 115k pounds in UK (before tax, read again before TAX) per annum which is roughly equal to 6,67,000 (six hundred and sixty seven thousand QAR).

The job I am currently being offered is around 7,20,000 QAR (including all tom/dick/harry allowances) so the total different is of about 50,000 QAR (equal to 9.some thousands in pounds) annually.

I have British citizenship and have also studied at Ivy league schools and currently working in an elite investment bank.

For the second time now many of the automobile manufacturers traveled all the way into the orient to take part in the Qatar Motor Show.

A very strong participant was the Volkswagen Concern. VW, Porsche, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Skoda were representing the german brand in all its diversity.

But also other european brands like Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Aston Martin and the german autobrand Mercedes-Benz knew how to woo the visitors.

I ride a motorcycle in Doha. While commuting to work, I bungee my soft sided briefcase to the tail. Was due to leave on vacation and I was carrying my wallet, a pile of cash, and my passport in my briefcase. Also had my 3k USD Apple laptop with my whole life, and professional life, saved on the hardrive. Well, less than 1/2 way to work, I hit a construction zone and jumped over a curb while weaving through stuck traffic. I reached work, dismounted, and discovered the rear of my moto was bare. Holy Moses!!! I panicked!!!! Immediately spun around and started returning to my home to trace my steps and hope to find it. The whole way (about 30 minutes) I was reviewing how f***ed I was and how I would find a way to recover my stuff,money, and cancel my vacation. Lost ID, no driver's license or passport, money gone, information and programs on my computer.Focused on the out of the ordinary bump that I hit, returned to that spot. My briefcase was leaning on a lightpole on a traffic island. My lunch in a bag was sitting there. The bungee cord was still sitting in the road and getting run over. Gathered my stuff and smiled broadly all the way (back) to work.

The people, police, and leaders of Qatar have something to be proud of. There exists a culture, we all contribute to the culture of our environment, in Doha where this is possible. Don't be cynical- pay it forward. If you find something of value and think it could be yours, think of how important it is to another human being. The Losail International Circuit in Qatar will add another feather to its cap when it hosts the ninth and 10th rounds of Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge on March 2 and 3.

Sven-Goran Eriksson urged FIFA to host the 2022 World Cup in January as the Swede believed hosting it in summer would badly affect the performance of the players.

“You can do a lot of things in this country, but I doubt you can change the weather. Of course, it’s a problem. If you remember the World Cup in the US in 1994, it was hot, hot, hot. I was there.

“That’s bad for the game because you can’t perform. You can’t run when it’s 40 degrees,” he said.

Is it just an aim or a definite cut. If that happens call rates would almost be equal to a local call..

Yesterday had an interview with Committe at Madina khalifa. Officials asked me about my salary, children, my company, whether i applied for family visa in MOL or not, six months bank statement , all went well and then after asking all this he asked me to leave. later i asked person sitting in reception he asked me to check after two days. Today i checked online it is showing Application postponed since it was showing Application rejected before meeting. Dont know what this means.

Many of us don’t read hard copy books these days either e-books or Audio books, on an average how many books do you read in a year? How often do you read a book? How long will it take for you to finish a book of 200 pages?

These days even children are not very keen to read books. In some culture, reading is so alien for them.

Do you listen to audio books? If yes, what’s the best site to download audio books?

When I was younger I read only fiction and newspaper...:) But now I prefer reading more of non fiction.
